Builders Bargain$ offers discounted building materials
We are thrilled to announce Builders Bargains! Our warehouse has been converted into a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center. Overstocked, discontinued, new and used construction items, remodeling materials, and appliances will be sold to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope, locally and around the world.
When businesses and individuals donate home improvement and other items to Builders Bargains, instead of taking it to the landfill, and savvy shoppers buy them at steep discounts, it’s a win-win-win situation!
Builders Bargains store hours will be Tuesdays from 9am to 1pm, Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm and Saturdays from 9am to noon. Come by during these hours to shop or drop off donations.
“Proceeds from sales at Builders Bargains, as well as donated materials, will result in repairing and rehabbing of homes that will allow many people in our community to live comfortably,” says John Scott, President of IHS.
Builders Bargains has something for everyone. Quality used and surplus building materials will be available at reduced prices.
“This collaboration provides our community a new outlet for recycling and reuse of second-hand construction goods and leftover building materials while encouraging sustainable living, the reduction of waste to the landfill, and the building of community,” says Holly Thomas, Director of Development for IHS.
After learning all about IHS’s work in the community through her service as a board member, Jane Wagler, the EtCetera Shop’s store manager lead the charge on getting this collaboration off the ground.
“The EtCetera Shop is a locally committed community store. We support not for profit organizations in Hutchinson and surrounding areas. We maintain ecofriendly practices throughout all of our operations as listed in our mission statement. This partnership fits right in line with how we help sustain our communities and the earth. It also supports the work of IHS in providing better living conditions, financial stability and building community for those in need,” states Jane.
Beyond continuing your generous donations, you can give back to the community with your time. Builders Bargains is looking for volunteers for setup, cleaning, sorting and pricing donations, as well as, testing appliances and tools. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these things, once a week, month or on occasion, please call Jane at 620-669-8932.
“By volunteering at Builders Bargains, you can get hands-on experience in preventing waste and promoting reuse and upcycling. Help make a difference in our community, be a Builders Bargains volunteer and better the environment,” says Thomas.
A list of acceptable items for donation is available here.
None of this would be possible without your prior and future gifts - we can’t thank you enough for your generosity. Your commitment to assisting those with housing needs in our community is sincerely appreciated.
