Interfaith Housing Services brings the housing needs of individuals to
the attention of the community at large and then organizes the
manpower, abilities, expertise and donations of those that want to
"make a difference" so that help is provided where it is needed
most.
IHS serves to provide housing solutions to those least likely to find
housing assistance in traditional means. This includes extensive work
in providing both rental housing and ownership opportunities to people
and families with both physical and developmental disabilities.
To fulfill its mission, IHS operates four programs
IHS programs serve children, youth, seniors, families, individuals and the community in a
variety of ways. Through the years, our grants and private donations
brought over $7,000,000 into the counties we serve all of which
positively affected not only the housing industry, but the economic
development of the towns and cities in those counties as well.
We watch neighborhoods improve because we
repair one house therefore inspiring neighbors to work on their
homes. The greatest joy is seeing someone who had essentially given up
all hope once again enjoy a positive outlook on life because they have
a home they are proud of--a home where the roof does not leak, a home
where there are no holes in the floor, a home where the furnace and
water heater work again. The pleasure of helping someone live in a home that is a safe harbor when the
going gets rough, is a blessing to staff, volunteers and the client.
