VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS

If you have a little--or a lot--of free time on a regular basis or just occasionally and would like to fill those hours by providing a valuable service to others, please consider volunteering at Interfaith Housing Services. We always need individuals to help with a variety of projects, from hammering nails to hammering keyboards, from climbing ladders to cooking meals.

The experience of giving to others brings as much joy to the giver as the gift itself  brings to the receiver. Experience that joy--VOLUNTEER!

Here is what one of our regular volunteers has to say about volunteering with IHS:

"On average, I volunteer 24 hours a week. Why do I do it? I am retired with time on my hands and what better way to use that time than helping others.
You would think that because this is volunteer work that I would not get paid, but that's not entirely true. Let me explain about the clients we help.
There are several that come to mind, but one in particular. We put in a new kitchen floor and then laid tile. This person said she had never had anything that nice in her lifetime. Her daughter was there and agreed that was true. You would have thought we had built her a castle the way she carried on and thanked us. No pay? Folks, I will never have enough money to give her the change that is due for what she gave me.
These are big things that keep me going and keep me volunteering. There is always a need. Don't you want to give it a try? You cannot imagine such big reward for such little help."
